An abandoned listening station from the Cold War period is the focus of the video MAN IN THE MIDDLE. During a 4-minute camera ride, aspects of the topic "surveillance" are presented in a media-reflecting way. The historical view of the remaining architecture is used to visualize surveillance as a current and global reality that does not even stop in front of the viewer.

Eine verlassene Abhörstation aus der Zeit des Kalten Krieges steht im Mittelpunkt des Videos MAN IN THE MIDDLE. Während einer 4-minütigen Kamerafahrt werden Aspekte des Themas »Überwachung« medienreflektorisch dargestellt. Der historische Blick auf die verbliebene Architektur wird genutzt, um Überwachung als weiterhin aktuelle und globale Realität zu visualisieren, die vor dem Zuschauer nicht Halt macht.

In this object with the code name "Quelle1" (Source 1) the Main Administration III of the East German State Security Service intercepted the over-horizon microwave relay link between West Berlin and the Federal Republic of Germany.

In diesem Objekt mit dem Tarnnamen »Quelle1« hörte die Hauptabteilung III des Ministeriums für Staatssicherheit der DDR die Überhorizont-Richtfunkstrecke zwischen West-Berlin und der BRD ab.
Als Mitte der 1980er Jahre parallel zu dieser Strecke eine digitale Richtfunk- und eine digitale Glasfaserverbindung ihren Betrieb aufnahmen, wurden diese ebenfalls hier »abgeschöpft«.
Ein »MAN IN THE MIDDLE« wurde positioniert.
Den Namen MAN-IN-THE-MIDDLE ANGRIFF trägt heute eine spezielle Angriffsform auf Computernetzwerke, bei der sich ein Angreifer physisch oder logisch unbemerkt zwischen die Kommunikationspartner positioniert und die Kommunikation manipuliert. Dabei wird ihnen vorgetäuscht, das jeweilige Gegenüber zu sein.
